Is that 80C or 80K?

We just had a nasty storm front blow through; expect it presently.

Damn! 80mph in the back yard must be a new record. Watch that hairpin
around the end of the pool - I don't want to have to fish you and your car
out of the deep end again.

You got it working again? Nice. Needs that owl perched on it,
though.

Here in PA, the worst day was 6 F, I think. Except up near the
Poconos where the wind at the salvage yard had me thinking I was in
for a bad time. Nah. Pulled the part from inside a van and swiped
some old computer hardware left behind at the same time.

Anyway, I think being out in the midwest showed me what cold and
windy really was, 'cause it hardly dipped below 30 around here
(where I grew up - more conditioning) lately and low 40's is more
like it during the day. Really nice.

But some of the people around here are whining daily about the
cold. Shivering like they're freezing. Just from going from the car
to the office, what, 25 feet, tops? 3 yrs ago it was waaaayyyy
colder during the day.

All I can do is shake my head and laugh 'cause I can stand outside
in shirt sleeves and not shiver, bitch, whine, or complain.

Glad I'm not in Chi town, though.

I think it was last year in Jan, it got so warm, one of the bushes
started to bloom and days later it got cold again. Every now and
then I'll see geese heading back south all pissed off after one of
those temp swings.

It's 12 F winds S 3 mph, now. I think I'll go outside in my bare
feet and rub my soles on the edge of the concrete steps. Used to
jog to the mailbox barefoot in the snow in Chicago - just because I
could. I also swam a half lap in Houston in the middle of winter :P
Condo Assoc. "Meet Your Neighbor" party. More like "freak out your
neighbor so they won't bother you" >:)

Well, enjoy your cold snap.

Hey... nice to e-meet you here on USNET. It happens that I was born in
Halifax, NS... left many years ago, been living in the American South for lo
these past xxxx years.

Today here in Indialantic By-the-Sea, FL on our barrier island, just a few
hundred feet from the Atlantic Ocean beach, we have wall-to-wall blue sky a
few fluffy white clouds, and temperature around 70F. I'm sitting out by the
pool under the lanai looking at the palm trees in the back yard while I type
this posting. Just so that I don't feel too privilidged, I am sporadically
working on a report for one of my consulting clients...

Two weeks ago my cousin and his wife from Shelbourne, NS passed through our
area in their 50 foot schooner on the way to Cuba for the summer. I spent
the evening on board with them while they were swinging at anchor off Dragon
Point in the Bannana River drinking rum and reminiscing about the old days
in dear old Nova Scotia. They departed Key West on Wednesday...

Be careful and don't shovel too much snow *before* the snowploughs pass your
place, eh?

:-)

Been so fippin rotten here in Washington, Michigan with the freezin rain,
slush, and over all crappy weather that Ma & I are headed to Hilo for a
thawout. Hopefully by the time we get back the weather here will be better.
BTW I do really appreciate the weather in Sedona, Flagstaff, and Tucson.
Been there a few times, both in the summer and winter. Considering an
alternate living area there also is a possibility.

Thanks...

I believe that you should make your own Karma.

Born in the Canada and now living in the South, I firmly believe that if
Europeans
had discovered the northern parts of North America during the winter they
would have left it to the native Americans and not stayed too long...

I see by the history books that indeed they arrived during the summer and
were
fooled into staying...

Me...?

I can't take the northern winter weather any more, never venture North of
the FL/GA State line after September.

It's OK, at least I can go snowmobiling! This was nearly impossible a few
years back due to lack of snow. I must say, it is nice to be able to work
outside around water - I sometimes work on my laptop by a lake at a friends
cottage.

They are actually being quite generous this time around and lifting the side
blade some, as to keep most of the snow out of peoples driveways.

Storm's done - 95 cm in total in under 24 hours - a new record by far. The
last 24 hour record was 55 cm. We have another 20 cm coming tonight. The
province is in a state of emergency for the first time in decades (since
1944??) from a snow storm. There are snow banks and drifts over 15 feet high
in places. A few pictures I have seen had complete streets banked in with 12
foot drifts! Last night was the first time in history that Nova Scotia had a
curfew - anyone caught out after 11 PM till 7:00 AM this morning would be
fined $1000, whether they were walking, driving, etc.

Wow... that's a really bad one! I recall the rough winter weather in
Halifax but nothing like that.
I hope there is no loss of life or other human tragedy as a result of that
storm.

My wife was in our Halifax harbourfront condo last summer when "Juan" came
through, she had
left me down here in FL for the summer to "guard" our home against
hurricanes! So NS has
been getting its' share of severe weather recently.

Here today in Indialantic By-the-Sea... 75F, wall to wall blue sky, ocean
breeze swaying the palms in the back yard... well you know the same booring
story...

Take care...
