Discussion:
Suggestions for ISP in Yuma AZ?
(too old to reply)

I've finally had it with Earthlink/Mindspring. The past several
weeks I've been flooded with thousands of Swen in my dial-up
acccount, filling up my mailbox when I'm off-line (about 20 hours
a day - only one phone line) preventing receipt of my legitimate
mail. And my spam! And they adamantly refuse to filter out the
worms. This morning no email service at all.

Can anyone suggest a dial-up ISP in Yuma AZ? Local or national.
With news. Reliable. Around $20. Some here use TheRiver. Anyone
know anything about them?

TIA

Thanks. I bookmarked it. But I was hoping someone from Yuma would
respond with a suggestion based on personal experience using an
available ISP. But perhaps no one from Yuma reads this group.

Thank you. I like your service very much so far. It was a really
pleasant surprise to find almost no spam in the Usenet groups.

Now I hope Earthlink doesn't keep billing me after this month. I
sent them a letter at their headquarters and attached a letter to
my October payment stating that I was cancelling their service.
It seems some ISPs are very difficult to free oneself from; I
hope Earthlink isn't among them.

Thanks much. I signed up this morning. BTW, it's hard to get a
live person on your 480-998-7237 number. Took three tries. You
guys must be popular.<g>

Lucky me, I'm only getting about a thousand a day. I think, I'm
not logging the ones which make it through Postini that I'm tossing
when they actually get delivered.

Wow - what happened to their "spaminator" service? I'm getting
ready to complain to Postini (external spam filtering service) that
even Dirtlink lets you just toss stuff without ever having to look
through it (or so it seems to me after reading some of their ads).
Postini does not, so one still has to look at it all in any case,
it's only a question of where (their web site or your own mail box).

I didn't know Deru was available in Yuma, but since they are I'd
go with them. They're reasonable people, they answer email, they
have above average news service too. Etc... They even have shell
service if you wanted to use that.

It doesn't do worms. I read in the EL newsgroups many many people
complaining about that. And besides, I understand it leaves the
stuff on the server for you to decide about, so I'd be in the
same boat. I use Mail Washer when I'm on-line instead. BTW, Swen
is still very popular in my mailbox.

I think I'll take your advice. I didn't see anything bad on
Google. I'll go to their web site later. If I go that route, I
hope they don't get bought out like Primenet who, despite their
faults, was still better than most.

:-) For a kick go and search on "wayrynen raciborski" together in
google groups - az.internet has some fun history of Nathan and I (when
we were both much younger) bantering back and forth. We still talk to
this day.

Deru is going to be around for the long haul.
