.wav to MP3/WMA converter?

Does anybody know of a good program for converting .wav files to
either MP3 or WMA? I have some .wav files that I'm want to burn to an
audio CD. My burning software (Nero) will burn the .wav's to an audio
disk, but no matter how clean the file is, it always comes out tinny
on the CD. I've tried a few .wav to mp3 converters, but they seem to
have the same problem as Nero. I'm hoping somebody knows of something
a bit better.

Thanks.

Hi Brian:
I had the same problem with Nero. I needed to burn some 800 KB, 90
minute discs and they came out distorted with Nero.
I downloaded a trial edition (Gear DVD 6.05 Standard Edition) from
Gear and it worked fine, nice clean recordings after burning wav files
from my hard drive. It is kinda expensive ($80) to buy, but the trial
period is 2 weeks, so it is a free trial. I found it to be easier to
use than Nero (which has too many bells & whistles for me), once I got
the hang of it.

If you wanta read about it.
I'm gona buy it cuz I think it is what I need (and I'm a
cheapskate).
Let us know if you find a solution.

Actually, I tried using the Roxio burning plug in that comes with
Windows Media Player, and that did the number pretty well. Only draw
back is that it will only burn at 2x, but if I shell out for the full
version it will burn at top speed.

Any opinions on EZ CD Creator 6 then? I had EZCD 4 and I liked it,
but 5 was a dog.
