First thing I noticed at my new home is that I can hear the traffic. I'm,
not sure what kind of windows I have. I don't think they're double-paned.
At least it doesn't look that way to me.

Anyway, I've been reading about double paned vinyl windows, and other
things I can do to cut down on noise.

What can I do to cut down traffic noise (I can also hear the AC unit
outside). And how much can I expect to pay?

I'd like to replace my bedroom windows (2 windowsm about 3-4 foot high),
mand possibly the livingroom window (2 windows about 6-7 feet high)

Hi Hosun:
I just bought at Lowes, a replacement window that cost $133 for:
Brown anodized aluminum frame, 48" X 48", double pane, bronze tinted
glass. So it looks like they run less than $10 per square foot.
After having double pane windows and sliding doors for 18 years,
I'd have them in any climate, not only for the noise reduction, but
the saving on heating/cooling costs. After installing the double pane
windows in 1988, my electric bill dropped $50 per month in the summer.
That is one of those upgrades that you might have opted for.
P. S. In 1988, I paid $48 for that same window, when I changed them
all in this house. Money well spent IMO.

So what does that window do for noise reduction?

And do I have to replace the frame too?

So you did as much research buying a NEW house as you did buying a
Beamer ?:-)
