John
It is not evolution, but the destructive effect of UV radiation that
are at work in Arizona.

Most Arizonians start out almost as cute as lovely Miss. Thompson, but
their proximity to the sun takes a terrible toll. Don't believe me?
Look at this five year old photo of our own Mr. Thompson that my
Internet sleuthing turned up.

Sure, he's showing some signs of his age, but he's holding up fairly
well, don't you think? Now look at him:

Sun screen is so important!

Cordially,

P.S. The story that goes with the second picture can be found at:

I guess "Thompson" is Dr. Crist's internet nom de plume.

Quite right. The features in these apocryphal photos of ol' Jim lack
the simian charteristics of the real thing.

Bah. You're all over the web!

You build abstract furniture:

Before that, you used to write pulp fiction crime novels:

I would reserve 'ugly' for those unfortunate enough to have a
pathological condition that produces an immediate, unavoidable frisson
on seeing them. And I would never use that word, even in that context,
anyway.

I tend to reserve "ugly" for personality defects that are within the

look up "frisson". Thanks.

Actually, 'gurning' was one of those delightful old English customs. You
have to wear a horse's collar and it helped to have as few teeth as
possible. I expect it still goes on at the annual fair in Bindweed-in

No, they are garters. Back in the early 1900s, before elasticated
socks, men did use suspenders.

Well, I didn't save the attached pictures. The christmas tree was on
the right hand side of the picture. I vagely remember a person wearing
suspenders, not wearing a jacket, not wearing a tie, and somewhat turned
to the right, holding a glass. Not bold, reasonable amount of white hair.
Perhaps your wife took the picture.

Then there is a chance you might have been captured in a reflection in
one of the ornaments in the tree.

Only Spehro knows what I really look like. I don't think anyone else
on these groups has ever even seen a photo.

Huh? You posted one several years ago.
All you need to play "The Old Prospector" is the burro.
I think you be yanking my chain. I don't recall ever posting a
picture of myself.
Well, it was a shoulder and up portrait of a 60-something man, somewhat
in need of a shave. I seldom read a.b.s.e, so it was in one of the
sci.electronics groups.

Certainly can't find reference to one by Googling.
Do you have a message ID?
I couldn't find it in my archive of s.e.d. I don't save binaries,
especially when I was archiving on diskettes.

Allison Rose Thompson, age three.
Delightful as the picture is, I still think you should not put pictures
of children on the net, in case the faces are appropriated by
paedophiles to disguise their victims.

The good news is that nothing is compulsory.
The bad news is that everything is prohibited.

Big deal. There are millions of (normal) pictures of children on the
net. One more won't upset the paedophiles community.

But IMHO, there should not be. You can e-mail your kidpix to your
friends, or, if you must, put them on an UNLINKED page on your web site
and e-mail the URL to your friends.

No, but if that 'one more' happens to be the one that's appropriated,
the family of the victim may be significantly 'upset', even at just the
thought of the possibility.

I saw an advertisement today, part of the message was that the chance
you own a St.Bernhard that gives birth to seven puppies next week, which you
all want to keep, is even bigger ;)

Isn't there software readily available for creating facial images?
