A friend of mine has a business where he frequently needs to send *LARGE*
quantities of data to his clients (15-20GB is not uncommon). He'd like to
be able to generate some sort of self-extracting archive that can be
spanned across multiple DVDs--one that runs on Windows, natch.
He's tried WinZip and has come to the conclusion that it's just not
capable of handling massive archives spanning multiple DVDs.
I'm at a loss. Any time I need to send large amounts of data somewhere, I
just send it as a CD or DVD without any massive self-extracting archives.
Does anybody have any thoughts? The self-extracting feature is critical
for my friend. He doesn't want the clients to have to install something
to extract the archives.
Oh, and just in case you're thinking of alternative media (whatever the
hell has replaced JAZ drives these days, for instance), forget it. He's
trying to grow his business and he needs to be able to send media to the
clients that they're likely to already be able to read. Tapes and
removable/external HDs are equally unlikely.
