I've tried this with a Linksys and Netgear wireless b router.
Whenever I'm downloading a lot of files, say using bit torrent along with
WinMX along with downloading newsgroups, my router will lock up. Power
cycling resolves it until the next time.
It got bad enough a couple weeks ago that I reset the router 8 times in 4
hours.
I'm using the Netgear MR814 right now but I've tried this with the Links
BEFSWwhatever wireless router too.
I'm on a Cox cable connection using the Motorola Surfboard 5100. If I have
no router, nothing locks up. Right now my home cable connections' been up
for 7 days with no downtime (knock on wood).
I use primarily one laptop (Dell Latitude) with an onboard Intel NIC and a
desktop with an onboard Intel NIC (ASUS P4B533E).
I've talked to a couple other friends who've experienced similar issues
with their routers (Netgear or Linksys) and with different connections
(DSL).
Has anyone else here run into these issues? Any suggestions on how to
resolve this? Aside from buying a $500 router? Worst case scenario I guess
I could try to set up a desktop to act as a router, but I'm hoping it
doesn't come to that.
