Discussion:
Cheapest way to scan in 200+ pages?

Are there any consumer scanners or copiers on the market that have
document feeder options? I've got about 200 pages of various documents I'd
like to scan and archive, but I'd rather not scan each page at a time.

I think Kinko's will do it, but they charge around 25 cents a page. For
that much money, I'd rather buy something I can reuse.

I'm wondering if there might also be some sort of copier that has data
storage capabilities.

I'd like to stay under $500 if possible.

The "all-in-one" type units have a sheet feeder, since they also do
faxes. I have an old Canon that I have used to scan multiple documents
(although it had pretty poor resolution).

But can they handle double-sided pages?

Just trade in your Beamer for a Kodak commercial-grade copier ;-)

I'm pretty sure an all-in-one scan/fax/printer combo would have met your
other requirements, but I don't know of any under $500 that'll do duplex
scanning.

At work, we have two Minolta photocopiers that'll also do duplex scanning
to TIFF or PDF at a range of resolutions from 200 dpi to 600 dpi. If
you're desperate, the stuff isn't confidential, and you don't mind mailing
it to me and waiting to get it (and a CD with your scans) back in the
mail, I'll scan them for you.

Of course, the Fiery print/scan controller on one of our copiers went
belly-up today, and I don't know how long it'll be before the repair guy
gets it fixed, but I'd imagine if you FedEx'd that stuff to me on Monday,
I could have it scanned and on its way back to you the next day.
